Funeral Services for David J. Poulton, age 80 of Heuvelton will be held at 11:00am on Monday Oct 16, 2017 at the St. John Episcopal Church in Ogdensburg, NY with Rev. Dr. Michael O officiating. Burial will be at the Crown Cemetery in Morriston, Ontario Canada.Calling hours will be held on Sunday Oct 15, 2017 from 1 4 6 8pm at the Fox Murray Funeral Home. Mr. Poulton passed away on Tuesday (Oct 10, 2017) at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility with his loving wife and dear friend Colleen Steele by his side.Surviving is his wife Anna Poulton; a brother in law Donald Stewart of Puslinch, Ontario; two sister in laws Mary Helen Hohenadel her husband Paul of Puslinch, Ontario and Nancy Skinner her husband Larry of Listowel, Ontario along with many nieces, nephews cousins. Two sister in laws Kaye Billingsley and Winnifred Stewart predeceased him.David was born on June 10, 1937 in Galt Ontario, a son of the late John V. Irene (Bettke) Poulton. He graduated from Guelph Ontario High School and continued his education at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam. He later married Anna Stewart on April 16, 1960 at the Duff Presbyterian Church in Morriston, Ontario.After college, David began his career in music with the Massena Central School system in three elementary schools where he worked for four years. In 1964, it marked the beginning of something special when he acquired the position of instrumental music teacher and band director for Heuvelton Central. Throughout the three decades of dedication, David produced top notch marching band performances, which obtained numerous awards and a pristine reputation for perfection held by no other than the Heuvelton Central Marching Band. He retired in 1992.David love for music enticed his membership in so many music organizations to include The National Association for Music Education, NYS Music Association, The St. Lawrence County Music Association where he was Past President, The Sacci Big Band in Watertown, The St. John Choir where he was a member and former choir director, The Professional Musicians of Central NY, a member of the Massena Masonic Lodge 513 and honorary member of the Heuvelton Volunteer Fire Department.His spare time allowed him to enjoy camping, playing with professional bands, being outdoors, mowing lawns, traveling, being with his wife Doreen and watching the Heuvelton Central School Band perform.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the David J.
